Where imagination breathes and self-expression comes home.
I'm Dr. Diana Miller — psychotherapist, artist, and lifelong traveler of inner and outer worlds.
My path to this work began not in a clinic but on a canvas. As an undergraduate studying studio art and anthropology at UMass Boston, I discovered that art could take me places: into myself, beyond myself, and back again. Anthropology taught me to move toward the unfamiliar with curiosity rather than fear. Time spent on farms and studying visual anthropology at Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand, taught me that place itself is a teacher — that land holds memory, and that healing often begins by coming back into contact with something rooted and alive.
Along with my BA and MA, I hold a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Meridian University, where my doctoral research explored the intersection of psychological abandonment, the impact of the mother-daughter relationship, and thwarted creative self-expression — drawing on Jungian depth psychology, imaginal inquiry, and the archetypal figure of the Death Mother. My work asks: what happens to a woman's creativity when she has learned it isn't safe to surrender?
I have worked across foster care, outdoor adventure therapy, residential treatment, and group practice — as therapist, social worker, and director. I have done some of this work far from home, and I hope to again. I currently live off-grid in the coastal redwoods of Northern California, where the forest continues to be one of my greatest teachers. I bring all of that range — the earth, the travel, the canvas, the clinic — into the therapeutic space.

The name was born in 2009, while I was painting and photographing through ongoing familial trauma and beginning to understand what art was doing for me. Visiting Jane was first an artist alias — then something larger.
She is a traveler. A deep sea diver of the underworld. A collector of riches known only to few.
She is me. She is also you.
Visiting Jane is the archetype of the brave soul daring to travel to the places just behind the familiar — our dreams, our wounds, and the parts of ourselves we have lost or have yet to meet. It is metaphor and invitation and something literal all at once: to visit the canvas, to visit the dream, to visit a place that changes you, to visit yourself.
Together we will visit. Together we are Visiting Jane.

New Clients50-minute sessions for returning clients. Our ongoing work together, held with care and continuity.
Returning ClientsFor artists, writers, and makers who feel their creativity has gone quiet. Depth work that asks not why can't I create but what has made it unsafe to surrender — and finds the way back to expression.
Signature Approach"The inner world has its own geography — and you don't have to navigate it alone."
Psychotherapy doesn't have to mean only sitting with what's broken. It can mean discovering the richness of your inner landscape — the textures, colors, and voices that make you whole.
I draw on depth psychology, Jungian theory, somatic awareness, and the creative arts to create a space that honors the full complexity of who you are — across all your threads and roots.
My doctoral research explored what happens to a woman's creativity when she has learned it isn't safe to surrender. In our work together, surrender becomes possible again.
